Ron Lake
Ron brings over 30 years experience in advanced software technology to his role at Galdos. Since founding Galdos in 1998, Ron has established the Company as an innovative software development firm that specializes in the application of Java and XML technologies to wide-area spatial information systems.
In June 2002, the OpenGIS® Consortium (OGC) presented Ron Lake with the Kenneth Gardels Gold Medal in recognition of his role as the original author of GML. This award is given to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution towards advancing the OGC's vision of fully integrating geographic information into the world's information systems.
Previously, Ron was Vice President, Engineering for Laser Measurement International. Prior to that, he was Principal/Divisional Engineer for MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates, developing land information and advanced GIS systems. Ron has an MA.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering, and an M.Sc. in Mathematics (Algebraic Topology/Differential Geometry), from the University of Toronto. He is the GML creator and editor. A founding member of the OGC, Ron is currently the Chairman of the OGCs GML Special Interest Group.
